First off, we are local and every restaurant this group owns is a winner. Strangely we have never eaten here until tonight. It was our last night before my wife is induced the next day with our first baby. The greeter could not have been sweeter and insisted an outside picture vs inside where it was dark Our server was an amazing, cool 24 yr old that could recite the wine list in her sleep like a pro in one breath and then spark an unstiff talk track on beaching it and living the life. Tuna, cheese plate and oysters were amazing. The kicker was a surprise dessert on the house for our special day. Langdons quickly entered our top 5 MT. P restaurants and we were not shocked it did... Langdons will always be a part of our memories and if a restaurant can do that so seemingly effortless is a sign of fine dining in one of Americas restaurant capitals. Cheers

Whoever said 'location, location, location' certainly didn't have Langdon's in mind. Get past its location (in the Bi-Lo shopping center at Johnny Dodds and N. Shelmore) ... it's also near I'On. Having dined at Langdon's twice before, it was on the top of my list when my dear friend. Mike K, asked me to choose a special restaurant for the three of us (including my hub) to celebrate my milestone BDay. Entering Langdon's, we quickly felt its downtown vibe ... we were in the midst of a bustling bar scene. With its long, long, well- stocked bar and many high top tables against the partition wall, it's a perfect setting to enjoy a cocktail, beer, glass of wine and a small plate(s) for happy hour, before dinner, or a casual evening. We were seated in the attractive, formal dining room and was quickly acknowledged by our server. While the wine list was decent, I chose an oldie, but a goody - Pimm's Cup, and it was perfect. The guys enjoyed a glass of the house red wine ... we were off to s great start! A basket of warm, crusty bread was quickly brought to the table, accompanied with very creamy butter. To start, each of us ordered the curried duck and mint spring rolls with a jalapeño - coconut dipping sauce ($9). There were at least 8 others delicious options, but no one wanted to share. We loved dipping each piece of the plump, crispy rolls in the yummy sauce. A cool, tangy asian slaw was an unexpected, colorful, and tasty addition for our first course. The second course options included soup du jour and a selection of imaginative salads. We each selected the salad with baby arugula, goat cheese and caramelized Bosc pears, tossed with a smoky bacon-shallot vinaigrette ($10). The sugary pears and creamy cheese complemented the peppery greens ... and of course, everything went well with the bacon! For his entree, my husband selected the fresh tagliatelle bolognese with Pecorino Romano cheese ($19). I felt the dish was not the best choice as Italian fare is not a specialty of the house ... but, he loves pasta. Mike quickly decided on the shrimp and grits, his fave. As an 'ex-pat newbie' from Baltimore, I've only savored 'shrimp and grits' at Husk ... so, my bar for this dish has been set quite high. While I'm sure that any of the main course dishes would have been fab, I had a hunch that exec chef/owner Patrick Owens' take on Charleston's best known dish would measure up. So, I also ordered the 'shrimp with prosciutto, roasted tomatoes, scallions and smoked bacon over stone ground grits ($25).' I wanted a side of wilted spinach and Mike wanted a side of the seasonal veggie, squash. Our adorable server discouraged the additional items as our dish included both veggies (refreshing, huh?). Mike then ordered a portion of the house made duck sausage barley ... he loves duck and loves barley ($6)! Our entrees arrived ... we were delighted, to say the least. The dish was aromatic and attractively plated. There were at least 10 plump, large, local shrimp ... and the chef was not skimpy with the other ingredients. I'be learned 'not to judge a book by it's cover,' but after the first mouthful, all I could say was wow! Everything on the well balanced plate, worked together, yet, held its own. And, while Mike didn't 'need' the 'side,' we both loved the tender duck and barley and I was glad that Mike didn't pass on it. The meal was dreamy! We mopped every morsel of the delicately seasoned broth with a fresh basket of the warm. crusty bread. We were all stuffed and happy. (My husband said his dish, though not exceptional, was tasty.) Before we even considered dessert, our server surprised me with a special Birthday treat ... two large, house made, fresh and warm chocolate chip cookies, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. I couldn't wait to dig in... however, the guys encouraged me to first, make a wish and blow out the candle (that was inserted in the warm cookie). This combo was swoon worthy! There were several yummy dessert options. Mike wanted 'what I had' as the aroma of the warm cookie was intoxicating. My husband passed on dessert, choosing to enjoy a glass of red wine. Langdon's is fine dining at its best ... and now that Mount Pleasant's best kept secret is out, be sure to put it on the top of your list when looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, or a memorable meal with that special someone.

For as big as Mount Pleasant is, there are only a few restaurants that would garner a recommendation for a special meal, and this one would top that list. It has a menu that guarantees a good meal with even a blind choice. We were boring on our last visit and ordered filets as a recent Ruth Chris visit made us yearning for good properly cooked steaks. Wine list is not immense, but well thought out and easy to find a good bottle. Food is just done right, flavor and portion sizes are perfect. Only hit I see here in the reviews and witnessed is the staff could use slightly more training. I asked if the second price for wine was a quartino, and was looked at funny. Our server said it was a 5 and 8 oz pour which is what I thought a quartino was. Anyway I would have likely shared a quartino for our starters, but was afraid to ask that he split the jumbo glass in two. As it turns out even the 5 oz came to the table in a carafe. Next time I will know. Highly recommend their other restaurant Opal.

My foodie friends keep telling me to come here....so, last night, after a big meal elsewhere and a long walk on the beach, one of our guests mentioned she could really go for some crème brule. I googled Mt.Pleasant and crème brulee and Langdon's was the first name on the list. They were so generous in giving up a 4 top for 4 dessert diners on a very busy Saturday night. Since we had out of town guests, we were very grateful to them. Of course we had the crème brulee, my husband had the green apple crisp (warm and delicious) and one of our guests tried the Chocolate cake with cashew toffee and espresso ice cream - hands down one of the best desserts ever! Thanks for a wonderful ending to a great night with old friends. We will be back soon for the full service menu!....

Had an awesome dinner there. Great food, wine selection and service. The grouper was fantastic and so was the pork chop. Crudo appetizer beyond amazing. Will return. Not a cheap date here.

We were very surprised about this wonderful restaurant. We had the oyster Rockefeller as an appetizer and they were just perfect. My main dish was the gnocchi with prosciutto and goat cheese. The dish was amazing. My husband had the steak with mashed potatoes and was also very pleasantly surprised how great the steak was!The service was above average and we would absolutely recommend this restaurant for a nice date night

I liked it...I think they need another bartender on a busy Friday night. It's tucked away in a little strip mall but quite nice inside, I will definitely come back and try a meal - maybe having a server will up the attention you receive.

The food was good, and the wine list is great; however, we went there at 5:30 with a 13 month old child and my inlaws, and even though we were the only customers for the first fifteen minutes, they acted rude and aloof. I don't know if they just don't welcome kids, or if they got snooty when we didn't order wine with our dinner, but the whole experience was bad. Our server dropped off the check, but then spent 10-15 minutes chatting with the table next to us, and then forgot about it! We finally had to grab the manager to take the check. Definitely don't take your kids; no matter how well-behaved. They are not welcome!

Always more than satisfactory. We adore the black skillet steak and the center cut filet. My husband usually opts for the bone in dry aged ribeye, it's his favorite - and with good reason! The steaks are always cooked immaculately and taste is divine. The salad with goat cheese and shallot vinaigrette is perfection. The tuna is my go-to when I feel like a lighter option. The Asian slaw just takes it to a whole different level. Love this tucked away little slice of heaven.

I finally made it to Langdon's for the first time today to meet a friend for lunch. So glad I did b/c, it's great. We shared the Lunch on the Fly, and her go-to sandwich, the shaved prosciutto with arugula, cablanca goat gouda, over-easy farm egg and garlic-basil aioli on Italian Bread. The lunch on a fly was duck, kale, grits, and a marmalade. It was awesome. For $12, we really got our monies worth. I can also see why my friend goes with the prosciutto sandwich. It was grilled perfectly, and I found it to offer so many different flavorful bites. The menu doesn't list it, but our's also had their whole grain mustard on it, which was fine by me. The sides items we picked were the salad and soup of the day. The soup was awesome. My friend said their soups are always great! I will definitely be back to Langdon's soon!

This is my absolutely favorite restaurant in Mt Pleasant! Yummy wine in a great glass, perfect oysters, grouper was ...well let's just say if I wasn't in such a fancy place I would have licked my plate. My partner's shrimp dish was heavenly! Waitstaff was superb. You will looove this place. I can't wait to go back.

Have been here a few times. This is a small intimate place.. The wait staff has always been pleasant and attentive. The food is EXCELLENT. My wife and I had a great romantic dinner and dessert.

Had lunch there today and got The Lunch on The Fly Special. The food was GREAT! But, the service and hospitalist have much to be desired. It took 40 min to get our food. I wasn't in a hurry; but, I was hungry. There's too many great lunch spots to deal with this

Langdon's was a special treat we learned through word of mouth from a work associate. We were seated promptly on a Friday night, and given time to have a beverage, and look over the menu without feeling rushed. Their decor is elegant, and intimate. Service was excellent, professional, including good counsel on the food choices, and options for 1 in our party with lactose intolerance. We all LOVED our choices of fresh seafood: grouper, tuna, and salmon which was excellent! You can't undervalue the service- which was attentive without being pushy, no sense of feeling rushed, but being there when needed.

I went on vacation with the in-laws and wife to Charleston and the wife and I chose this restaurant as our date night. This place was pretty good. The gnocci with goat cheese is probably the best appetizer I've had in a long time, I only wish it was available as a full meal. The only reason I picked 4 stars vs 5 is that we felt just a tad rushed at the end, but otherwise it was great. Will be returning since we go to Charleston at least once a year

Food was fabulous... We were not dressed up and had 9 year old daughter with us, & they still treated us like royalty. Wife had grouper special and I had shrimp over grits. Apps, salads, entrees, and desert were superb!

Can clearly see why this is a AAA 4star restaurant. A true gem in mount pleasant. The decor, service and food were impeccable! My wife and I went here for a nice dinner locally. The night was truly made special by MATT, the general manager. His attention to detail even with a packed house was exceptional. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Fantastic food- the char on the steak we ordered was one of the best my wife and I have ever seen. The flavors jumped off of the plate- did great justice to the cut of meat. The bolognese was bursting with personality- extremely rich, in a good way. Only was missing a little more texture on the side like some crusty bread- will need to request that next time!

had a nice time with a friend tonight. We shared drinks and appetizers at a table in the bar area. The staff was friendly and the duck with mint egg rolls and seared scallops were delightful (though there were only two scallops served). There were ample choices on the wine list and the atmosphere was conducive for comfortable dialogue. (No TV in the bar!)

Update from my initial Feb 2014 review: This was our 2nd time dining at this restaurant. OpenTable reservations were made and we were accommodated for an early dinner in a quiet booth. Dinner for two was the Hawaiian Tuna special and it was absolutely amazing (done at medium-rare heat). Also had the side of Pearl Barley with spinach. and two salads, the arugula and the apple salad. Have to give Frank (our server) 5-stars as well. The most outstanding part of dinner was the $18/for half-dozen oysters that were roasted in the 1/2-shell. Totally amazing but for only 6, they were a bit over the top on pricing. You could have had a dozen for $32. Our dinner for 2 without drinks was $91. Will try OPAL next (it is their sister restaurant) SaleebScore: Service: 9/10; Food 9.5/10; Atmosphere 8/10; Location: 7/10 (close to ION but in a shopping strip) Parking 10/10. ----------------------- 2/14/14: You can certainly see the Wine Spectator Award shine through here. While not a big place, it is intimate and there are several tables to be selected for an intimate dining experience. We had waiter "Frank" who did a fine job navigating us through the menu and paring up a nice white wine (Camel Road Chard) w/ my Orange-Soy Grilled Salmon with Crisp Cucumber Salad and Aromatic Rice. My spouse had the Seared Diver Scallops with Sweet Corn Cream and Basil Oil for her entree, but it turns out too small even for a light appetite. She felt the presentation out-balanced the quantity and flavor for the price ($12). We feel a small plate or first course should be enough food for an entree-seeker w/ a small appetite (when paired with a salad, it should satisfy) if that criteria cannot be met... then drop the price under $10 to take the guesswork out of it. We both had salads, the Baby Arugula with Goat Cheese, Caramelized Bosc Pears won out. Overall not to bad w/ one 8oz ($13) glass of wine came to $90. Service was very good and Frank had two assistant servers, SaleebScore: Food: 9/10, Service:9.5/10, Ambiance: 9/10.

Five star for a mount pleasant or downtown restaurant. The service is amazing and rivals that of any downtown restaurant. The food rivals that of anything downtown as well. Would highly recommend if you want top notch food with amazing service. Monday nights are half off bottles of wine under $100 as well. I had the tuna avocado main course and it melts in your mouth. We also had a salmon tartar for an app that was so fresh and just melts in your mouth as well. Highly recommend if you want high class dining, especially if you don't want to go downtown.

1st time diner, great food and service. The fact that they chose a location where they can succeed vs going overboard, and out of business makes sense to me. Couldn't find anything to complain about, oh yea Opal ain't to shabby either

Everything about Langdon's was exceptional. Our server, Nick was extremely knowledgeable especially about the beer and wine. He was helpful in recommending a menu selection as well since there were so many choices. There's really something for everyone here. A great wine selection (bottles a little marked up) and veggie, fish, and meat options to include small and large plates. I had two small plates: the chèvre gnocchi and the shiitake foie gras. The gnocchi was freshly made with fresh basil, tomatoes, and goat cheese. The foie gras was seared over a tempura shiitake with an amazing miso? glacé. Such a great dinner and Nick picked a great glass of wine. Go to Langdon's!

The great thing about Langdon's is that no matter when you go it is consistently good. This tucked away little gem is busy most of time and the experience is refined but not pretentious. I love the wine by the bottle selection, it is clear that the owner hand picked each bottle. Nothing on the menu will disappoint but I love the filet which is always cooked perfectly. The service is helpful and very adept. One of Mt. P's best fine dining spots hands down.

There is not a single item that disappointed during our dinner here. All the way from our hostess through our waiter (Frank) and the support staff the experience was incredible. We made a reservation and were promptly seated although we were 20 minutes early (reservations recommended because although it was Monday this place was packed by 630pm). We definitely splurged with this dinner and between the two of us we had the local scallop appetizer (special of the night), pear and arugula salad, Pork Chop with Smoked Tomato-Brie Grits, "Maple Leaf Farms" Duck Breast, creme brûlée, and an Irish coffee. I tried to persuade my wife to not get the pork chop but wow it was absolutely delicious (she went with it after our waiter recommended it). It is impossible to describe all of the flavors in words you just have to try this place. The wine menu was extensive but not so much for the cocktail menu. We did not bring our little ones but there were two tables with older children ( older than 7ish). I would not recommend bringing small children here as it was very quiet and dark. Overall a solid 5 star experience. Definitely as good as it gets.

This restaurant was recommended to us by someone who lives in the area. We would have never pick this restaurant as first time visitors to Charleston. I agree with another review about deceiving location. One you get past that and taste the food, you won't care anyway! We had lunch; the tomato soup was outstanding. My husband had a burger and thought it was very good. I had the fish special and it was delicious. We will definitely go back for dinner next time we are in Charleston.

Absolutely LOVE Langdon's. Came here with my mom one night for a nicer dinner and was not disappointed. I decided to try it because of all the great reviews and it is close to home. The outside look of the restaurant threw me off, but inside it was beautiful and small and cozy. We started off with the oysters, delicious but very pricey, ($30 for a dozen). Then I got the baby arugula with goat cheese and pear salad, again absolutely delicious. For my main course I got the duck. I have never ordered duck before in my life, but for some reason it sounded perfect. Let me tell you, it was! the cherry sauce almost had a sweet barbecue flavor to it that was amazing and the succotash was out of this world. For dessert, we split the creme brulee, which I had heard was great and it was better than that! We both inhaled it and were perfectly satisfied. I would recommend this place to anyone, but it is pricey. To me it was worth it because the quality of the food was so good. I will definitely come back here! And the service was great and friendly!

Restaurant Week Rip Off. The food was fine, but the portions (I'm told) were less than normal, and they had the nerve to charge an additional amount for the steak entree. So it wasn't 3 for $40 after all. They could use one or two fewer tables in the dining room, and a fire in the fire place(?), since it felt like they had no heat... Tell me, can you trust a place that has no toothpicks?

Had a bad experience here several years ago and stopped going. When some friends invited us to Langdons we decided to give it another go. In a word...perfect I had a pasta bolognese that was a small portion on first glance. It was so good and so rich that it was more than enough even after passing around bites to the table. My wife had the rack of lamb and it was extraordinary. Perfectly cooked with a great crust on the outside, tender and red inside. No easy feat. Will be going back to Langdons often to make up for lost time.

Great food. The location is in a shopping center but once inside it has a cool vibe. The staff seems very attentive to helping you.Great bartender and drinks. They brought bread and butter to the table and it looked like a portion for 1, so who cares I don't need the carbs. Four of us ordered fish which came to the table about 10 from the time we ordered it. My salmon was one of the best I had. The other dishes were small portions so if you are looking for a hearty meal this isn't your place. All fish dishes were exceptional. My biggest pet peeve with most places is they do not disclose what the special prices are. Langdon's also saves that part until the end. Langdon's rival any restaurant in downtown Charleston

This spot was recommended to us by a local and it could not have been better. We very much enjoyed our meal here. We started with the shrimp and pork spring rolls--they were delicious! I could eat a meal of just those. I had an orange-soy glazed salmon that came with rice and cucumber and it was flavorful and perfectly cooked. He had pan-seared grouper with leek risotto and lump crab meat and was blown away (he's a chef!). We ended with Madagascar Vanilla Bean Creme Brule which was excellent as well. Very glad we found this spot and enjoyed my birthday dinner here!

Good restaurant! Langdon's in Mount Pleasant is a nice intimate restaurant. It is on the smaller size which can attribute to a louder restaurant experience than one may expect, however even though it is on the louder size, it doesn't feel like you are being crowded. It has a very nice color scheme as well. Food is good and flavorful. Their mashed potatoes were quite possibly the best mashed potatoes I have ever had in my entire life. Seriously, as well. Being a wine bar, they have an above average wine selection for a restaurant. The servers are great at recommending a good bottle to go with your dinner. It is on the more expensive side, but the quality you are getting and the type of restaurant it is make the expense worth it. Definitely visit them!

Concur with the other reviewers. The service was great, and there was an overall friendly vibe. I got the flounder with risotto, and my husband had the pork chops with bacon and leek mac and cheese. Flounder was a tad on the salty side, but still very tasty. I managed to steal bites of the chop and mac and cheese, and I appreciated the bold flavors. We'll definitely be back.

Langdon's serves bland food. I snacked on a couple of their appetizers on a Saturday evening. My partner and I were able to sneak in without a reservation. We were definitely under-dressed, our jeans and sandals didn't mesh well with the ties and dresses. Oh well. We ordered three dishes: a very bland lobster spring roll, too-chewy scallops, and some decent Blue Point oysters. The Blue Points we liked enough to order another six. But, you don't really score major points when your best dish requires zero preparation. Our server was the highlight of our visit. She was social, fast, and attentive. I don't think I'll be going back here. Maybe to try an entree.

As always, fabulous food. We have been patrons for years. Love it! Albeit, bar had a hard time keeping up w/ the capacity this eve. Almost time for a remodel too ...

We came to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of very dear friends.Everything was great. My wife had the steak and I had a the salmon. Both were excellent. For appetizer we had a delicious mushroom soup with crab meat, and for dessert the vanilla crisp tart and the creme boule.
